Why Otters?

Why tf did we choose an otter as our mascot? Let’s break it down:

• Ferocity Level: Jason Bourne 🕶️ - Otters are secretly some of the most badass creatures on the planet. If you think sharks are tough, imagine an otter taking down a venomous snake, and then chilling out like nothing happened (did this ever happen? we plead the fifth). True story: one otter even took a chunk out of our intern during a cold dip in Cape Town.
• Liquid Legends 🌊 - Otters are masters of the liquidity game, literally. They can close their nostrils while swimming, just like we keep things(spreads) tight with our liquidity infrastructure. Plus, they’ve evolved to grow a nifty little pocket under their arms to store tools—just like we’re evolving DeFi to smash through market inefficiencies.
• Resilient and Innovative 🛠️ - Otters are the "OG DeFi natives", always adapting and evolving to tackle new challenges. Whether it’s smashing crabs or smashing trading inefficiencies, otters (and Orderly) are always ahead of the game.

Now, we’re taking our otter love one step further by supporting the people who help these furry ninjas thrive in the wild.

Enter the IOSF: The Ultimate Otter Guardians

The International Otter Survival Fund (IOSF) has been working tirelessly since 1993 to make sure otters don’t just survive but thrive. Based out of the Scottish wilderness on the Isle of Skye, they’ve treated over 250 injured otters and cubs, and supported conservation projects in 103 countries across the globe..

But their work isn’t just about treating otters like cute, fluffy patients. They’re also deeply involved in education, research, and training. They've organized 9 workshops in Asia, Africa and South America, as well as 2 conferences in the UK on Otter Toxicology and the European Otter in Europe, spreading the otter love far and wide. 🗺️🌍

Why We're Getting Involved

At Orderly, we like to do cool stuff. So when we heard that the IOSF would let us join them in saving some Sir Otterly frens, we jumped at the chance to sponsor the heroes protecting our Otterly beloved mascot in real life. And just like you can’t get enough of Sir Otterly and his “raunchy” antics on 𝕏, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to make a splash by helping out with IOSF’s incredible work.
